Guerlain Dinner & Press Conference | Raffles London Event Photographer

A stunning evening as a luxury event photographer for Guerlain and Shortcut agency and I couldn't think of a more fitting backdrop as the newly opened Raffles London at the OWO (Old War Rooms). As a luxury event photographer I’ve shot at a lot of London’s most prestigious and beautiful event spaces and this is certainly up there. What a privilege to be the first photographer to shoot a candlelit dinner here though. If I could be only one type of event photographer I think it would be a candlelit dinner photographer.

The venue

The moment you enter Raffles London at The OWO you are greeted with opulence. Marble columns and ornate cornices and coving line the hallways. With the help of designers Goddard Littlefair they’ve done a really beautiful job keeping the character of the building (as Winston Churchill’s old war offices) whilst adding a luxurious Raffles feel.

Staying open to ideas

The event started with a press conference releasing Guerlain’s new skincare range and spa inside the hotel itself. The products looked beautiful against the set design and I spent some time doing some product photography and interior photography capturing some of the signage and billboards.

The event director also asked me to capture some abstract event photography of the installs and lights and I took a few but he particularly liked this image below. As a luxury event photographer I always like to capture a number of more artistic shots as well as the more standard event photographs. Client’s often use them in marketing materials or for PR purposes and they help to differentiate to other imagery shot at Luxury London event spaces.

The press conference was incredibly interesting. Scientists from UCL were asked to look into the effects of the new range on participants skin. I heard some fascinating things about quantum physics and free radicals as they were explaining their findings. For the most part I had to concentrate on the conference photography and making sure I got some lovely shots of each of the speakers as well as some wide event photos.

As a Luxury Event Photographer it’s so important to not only capture all of the main action but also the subtle moments. People often look their best when they are relaxed and the Creative Director of Guerlain was very happy with this shot.

There was so much to share from this fantastic evening that I’ve had to move the dinner to a separate blog. Please click here or below to see the stunning candlelit dinner at Raffles
